EUDAMED to SWISSDAMED

EUDAMED to SWISSDAMED

Easily synchronise EUDAMED data with swissdamed:
when manual XML export reaches its limits

Export as XML, import into swissdamed – done. This is how many manufacturers and CH-REPs imagine transferring existing EUDAMED UDI data to swissdamed. For individual records, this can work. However, with several hundred or several thousand UDI records, the process quickly becomes a complex manual task with significant risks of errors.

The common assumption: simply export and transfer

Since the UDI data are already fully maintained in EUDAMED, it seems logical to simply export them as XML and transfer them into swissdamed. For individual or a small number of records, this may largely work – but with larger data volumes, the limitations of this approach quickly become apparent.

The problem: EUDAMED only exports data in small batches

EUDAMED does not provide a complete export. Instead, data are provided in limited batches of around 20 to 30 records through paging. With several hundred or several thousand UDI records, this means dozens or even hundreds of individual export operations – and questions that become increasingly difficult to answer reliably: Which records have already been exported? Where should the next export start?

This creates specific risks:

  • Records exported more than once
  • Missing records
  • Overlaps between individual export batches
  • High manual verification effort

Particularly time-consuming for CH-REPs managing multiple manufacturers

For CH-REPs managing UDI data for several manufacturers at the same time, the workload increases with every additional manufacturer – as does the risk of errors.

The solution: automated transfer via the EUDAMED M2M interface

Europe IT Consulting offers an automated alternative based on the EUDAMED M2M interface. UDI data are retrieved completely and systematically from EUDAMED and prepared directly for transmission to swissdamed.

The result: reliable and traceable synchronisation between the existing EUDAMED data and swissdamed – without manual paging, without duplicates and without gaps.

The solution is suitable for both manufacturers and CH-REPs and provides particular benefits for larger data sets containing several hundred or several thousand UDI-DIs.

In short:
Existing EUDAMED data do not need to be manually prepared again for swissdamed. Through an automated, M2M-based transfer process, existing UDI data can be efficiently retrieved from EUDAMED and reliably synchronised with swissdamed.
