Switzerland launches its own medical device database

Switzerland will now create its own medical device database.

What happened: Since the expiry of the MRA (Mutual Recognition Agreements) contract, which was not renewed with the EU, Switzerland is now considered as a third country in the EU. To this end, Switzerland launched the MepV (Swiss Medical Devices Ordinance) on July 1, 2020. You can find more information on the website: https:// www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/2020/552/de

Every company that wants to sell medical devices in Switzerland in the future must register in order to get a CHRN, the equivalent of the EU SRN.

You can find more information on this at: https://www.swissmedic.ch/swissmedic/de/home/medizinprodukte/medizinprodukte-database/udi-unique-product-identification.html

The further development remains to be seen when the new database will be completed and what information is to be transmitted.
